* Learn how to work effectively with coordinators
* Have previous experience with MC
* Leadership experience/organizing experience
* Facilitate a meeting space
* Know the layout of previous year’s MC
MC Coordinator description
* Initiate outreach and form MC meetings
* Be able to coordinate volunteers
* Need to attend and check-in with all committees (go to their meetings) to keep folks accountable for their tasks
* Personal check-ins and supporting committee members: being a support system
* Weekly meetings with coordinators
* Weekly meetings with SOAR advisor
* Weekly meetings with MC committee
* Weekly meetings in APISA
* Must book lounges sleeping spaces, food (tickets), transportation, venue, put together the agenda, budget, and funding
Things recommended:
* Being assessable and flexible in time/schedule: being willing to lend a hand; backbone
* Respectful to everybody’s cultures and heritages
* Research on the backgrounds of students: understand where the students are coming from
* Be approachable
* Take initiative
* Non-defensive communication: validate, express yourself, offer a solution
